PEACHES had an ultrasound last week to confirm that we are expecting PUPPIES in early March 2023!
LUCKY is a very kind and sociable ACD with a huge drive for toys with tug & fetch being his favourite. We have built a drive for food in training but it was not really there at the beginning of our relationship. He loves herding sheep and managed his HSs title at 14 months with a HIT and a RHIT. He also has a first leg towards his Stock Dog Sheep title earned at 16 months. He has just started working with goats and shows early promise. He bends around nicely, covers beautifully & respects livestock. He will grip when needed however it is not his first go-to in moving livestock. He is sensitive to my pressure, responding quickly to direction. He is thoughtful and introspective but not a pushover. He is kind and sweet with cats. He truly is happy-go-Lucky in that fun sits high in his value list. He is showing great aptitude for tracking and we are hoping to compete in 2023 when opportunity presents. When out in a field off-leash for exercise he will often get on the scent of something however will always keep an eye on me & will return to me on a split second with a long distance signal. We have dabbled with some foundation titles in obedience and rally, however I have been cautious in that I do not wish him to become too handler dependent at this young age with herding & tracking being higher priorities for him. We traveled and competed in 4 out of 8 weekends in Fall 2022 and Lucky showed great resilience in adapting to new environments & rising to the competitive obedience/rally expectations
PEACHES is a sweet & spicey redhead. She has an excellent food and toy drive with food being her higher priority. She loves herding livestock and easily goes into tight pressure situations. Though her bending needs some work, she covers beautifully. She has a good grip and is quite prepared to use it. She is eager and has a lot of jam — admittedly she is more dog that I am handler on livestock. She has two legs on her HSs title and has been recently introduced to goats showing excellent promise. I’m excited to grow together with her in our herding efforts. She is super keen in obedience. She’s been trained through CD (ran out of time in 2022 to compete) and working on CDX & UD skills. Her aptitude in Rally is also very good with several RAE pairs under her before she turned two. We have not yet embarked on tracking however her ability to seek out a stale cookie in my pocket is remarkable. She is kind & sweet with cats. She’s excited to be part of the party and play, but is wise in reading the room to bring her energy in alignment with those she’s interacting with. She is a more typical ACD in that she wants to organize & she’s wary of some strangers initially. We traveled and competed in 4 out of 8 weekends in Fall 2022 and Peaches showed great resilience in adapting to new environments & showed consistent stamina in competing in rally/obedience 2-3 times per day.
THE PUPPIES: This litter is expected early March with puppies in homes by mid-May. Lots of early conditioning to life experiences/being around livestock and companion training is planned. Though not every puppy owner might choose to compete, the training these parents have had gives me a very good understanding of what to expect out of this litter. They will be biddable and have a strong desire for work/a job. They will also have an off switch however it is well known that a tired Cattle Dog is a happy Cattle Dog (and owner).
Keep an eye on this blog and our Facebook page for details. We are located in Okotoks, Alberta Canada.
Puppy inquiries are welcomed.
