Many firsts for theses boys today…
First attempt at nursing while Mama is standing… with varying degrees of success. These boys have got game though! Give them a couple of days and no nipple standing will be safe!
First deworming treatment which went very well — no funny faces of full body shudders, so that is better than creating a bad memory to a medication!
First day of being away at least a few hours collectively. There was more interest in exploring relationships between the brothers as well. “Hey! You’re not so bad. You wanna be friends?”
First day of coming to my “Puppy! Puppy! Puppy!” call at the gate of the Whelping Box. This surprised me as I feel it is a little ahead of schedule. There go the Cattle Dogs again being over achievers!
They remain at the stage where basic life processes are wildly entertaining to humans — like simply waking up:
It is also clear that we have a hooligan in the group who thinks that once he is up, everyone should be up and playing with them:
They are all toddling around pretty good today so I think I am going to have to get to work to expand their terrain by Thursday. It is a definite undertaking and I am still in clinic tomorrow so I think one more day of building strength in the current 4×4 is good for everyone.
