It has been a couple of busy work days for me so I am a little behind in posting updates. Here is what has been going on in the last few days…
The puppies are well into eating puppy chow meat slurry to keep them nourished as their demand on Peaches increases. They seem to think it is pretty good and as my friend Megan says, “We have lots of Meat Shoes,” meaning they’re walking through their food.

We have had some interesting adventures with the boys and the Giant Panda. The first instance with Spider-Man/Peter Parker climbing the x-pen wall behind Giant Panda and panicking when his feet left the ground and he found himself suspended! His screeching definitely got my attention as I ran across the house to see who was being tortured. I was too busy trying to rescue him from his dilemma rather than documenting the moment with a photo, but let me tell you — it was amusing! I have pics of a couple of other favourite Panda cuddles so you’ll have to use your imagination. lol. As a result of Peter’s self-imposed trauma, we have put Giant Panda on vacation and have Large Llama visiting instead, hopefully reducing the likelihood of any further calamities.
Teeth are officially completely through so the novelty of puppy treats has begun. We will start some basic training once they get the hang of chewing better. They are still trying to figure it out.

We had a small Superhero interaction with Romeo and several more with Lucky. As suspected, Romeo’s interest in engaging with the youngsters is waning as they are growing up — he has never been fond of puppies. Well truthfully, he’s kinda neutral “meh” on engaging with most dogs but when it comes to any canine having fun, he remains “The Fun Police” so I am mindful of how much he will continue to be engaging with them. It is good for them to know Romeo’s type of personality because not every dog you encounter in life is friendly and loves you so learning that lesson from Romeo in a safe and supervised environment is not a bad thing. I think he is growing weary of teaching manners (again) so I need to respect the old man’s boundaries and tolerances.

Lucky, on the other hand, is becoming more and more relaxed with them and is very interested in playing with them. I had the visual barrier around the play area down entirely last night so they could explore the wood floor for a bit. He became “babysitter” and body-blocked the journey to the back door stairs. I am not entirely sure if it was intentional or accidental, but it was appreciated just the same.

Our visitors are still experiencing cuddles but include lots of running around outside of the pen these days. My friend Tracy spent some time with us yesterday and managed to calm the busy-ness out of a couple of them for snuggles. It won’t be long before our visits will move to “Puppy Playtopia” in the basement training room.

They have begun to explore things that make noise more, like the electronic music machines or the piano xylophone. These were a couple of Peaches’ favourites too as a puppy so it is not surprising that epigenetic preference has been passed down. The new hanging mobile is a hit as are the various tug and teething toys that now securely hang off of the x-pen walls.
One thing is certain, they remain as cute as apple pie!
