Today was busy! A full clinical work day for me combined with getting the basement training room floor scrubbed and ready for the pitter-patter of little paw prints. All of the equipment is not quite ready but we did get a few things out to explore.
We have shrunk down to a single potty station now in their daytime pen because they are managing to get there reliably and consistently with great success.

I have added more pieces requiring balance and dexterity with a FitBone, two purple discs and a wobble board. No one appears phased by them and they are enjoying climbing on them readily. I have also challenged them with a wire toy basket (read: chew proof) that they can see through. The idea here is to challenge them — Are resourceful enough to retrieve what they want or do they get frustrated and bark/whine/give up? They did manage to get a few things out to play with throughout the day and there were no tantrums so that is a win!
Shazam had a brief visit with one of my clients, Katie, before she left. He was, of course, very well received!

It was warm enough today (10°C) so the boys got outside for the first time onto the front lawn grass in an x-pen for a short bit. They had a short visit with Bonnie while they were out there. The front lawn faces southwest so it tends to be sheltered and warmer which is why it was bare of snow. The back yard, not so much. It was less than 10 minutes of outdoor fun and overall they did very well. Their noses were immediately to the ground, just like their father Lucky! We get a lot of visiting deer in my neighbourhood so I am certain they had lots to sniff.
We then ventured into the training room for the first run around while my Mom was over for a visit. This was a “wing-it” project with no formal curriculum planned. They bounced, hopped and tugged. They snuggled and ran. They played with the tunnel.
Overall it was big fun which resulted in everyone having some very deep sleep DOG-TIRED naps when they powered-down.
I’m just delighted with their reactions to their big day — ever engaged and resilient!
Brace yourself.
It’s about to get really F.U.N!
