Today was definitely a Good Friday with lots of new life experiences. It was a clinical day for me but a last minute cancellation gave us a welcome opportunity for a visit to Y-Knott Ranch.
In the first video we conveniently encountered a noisy tractor, we have a quick visit with our good friend Billie Richardson and go on our first family pack walk away from home. All parts were awesome! The puppies showed me consistent recall — they had enough moxie to explore but good sense to stay reasonably close.
I called the second video, “Four chickens, a cat and a duck walk into a bar…” ? It wasn’t a planned encounter when we arrived, but it seemed like the right direction to go with the last bit of our time there. The puppies all showed interest in the chickens though they weren’t really sure what to do with them. They also met their first cat who happens to be my Mom’s cat’s mama. She demonstrated EXACTLY why we love her and wanted her son, Zipper. This kitty & her kids are epigenetically fabulous with dogs, they generally don’t run FROM dogs but they will stand up TO dogs. This is the purrr-fect combination for the challenging and often pushy ACD!
The puppies were completely un-phased by all they encountered today and showed good stamina for 5.5 weeks old. I was hugely amused by the fact that they were passed out in their travel crate in less than a minute from Billie’s ranch.
The rest of the day was less exciting… more clicker training, a little time in the back yard… two stints in our basement Puppy Playtopia …raw bone & hoof chewing …cuddles… and soon it will be bedtime!
