SEVEN WEEKS?! How did that happen?
We went to visit Tamara Champagne at Canine Development & Testing today for their independent evaluation temperament tests. The Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test includes 10 items that test for social attraction, following, restraint, social dominance, elevation dominance, retrieving, touch sensitivity, sound sensitivity, sight sensitivity, and stability. These results show where we are today and speculate what might be the case down the road for these boys. It is relevant to recognize that if you take the superstar out of this litter and stick him in a box and ignore him, this test is a moot point. Nurture is still critical to embracing aptitude.
That said, I like the independent opinion that Tamara offers. Though I try to be as objective as I can with my own day-to-day fact finding, I am human and I have undeniable preferences in life. I went into these tests today thinking I knew what kind of environments these puppies should be in however Tamara’s findings later this week will reinforce them or offer food for thought. Either way it is a win.
