We whisked away quickly at lunchtime for a runaround at Y-Knott Ranch taking advantage of another opportunity to normalize Barry’s time in the airline carrier. We had zero protests today going in or staying in the bag… and I’m pretty sure he was asleep in less than five minutes after leaving the farm.

Another first today was converting the Puppy Playtopia ball pit into a wading pool. I never imagined 20°C at the end of April, but I’ll happily take it. The big dogs wasted no time jumping in and demonstrating what fun might come of the adventure.
Barry was the first one in with all legs deployed and managed to go in and out a number of times. Shazam eventually did a drive thru but did not stop to enjoy the view. The other two dipped front paws actioning one paw intuitively as if to dog paddle. Hopefully good weather will persist and Barry will solidify this aquatic experience before his departure Wednesday.
The other first for the pups was our ritual of birthday cookies. The birthday kid (Papa Lucky) gets the biggest one while everyone else gets a smaller one and for a family first today we had to buy some itty bitty ones for the puppies to appreciate. My mom was here to celebrate and happily obliged the pups, supervising their cookie demolishing tactics. These cookies could very easily create a choking hazard if too eagerly swallowed whole so gripping them while they’re gnawed on prevents a birthday calamity.
