We’ve fallen into the puppy groove of independent x-pens, holding our collective bladders, exercise in between clients, practicing our various training skills and being good dogs.
I continue to receive compliments from clients who remark, ”Are you sure there are six dogs in the house and three of them are puppies?! It’s so quiet!” They have their moments, as all babies do. But it seems to be solved with a little bit of solitary crate time in the bedroom on their own. A couple of short time-outs and it’s amazing how quickly they realize that the x-pen routine has its merits! BTW, This discipline is accompanied by only quiet kindness — there’s no yelling, rough handling, or otherwise perception of painful punishment. It’s timely and quiet extraction from the noisy situation and the conclusions are drawn by said puppy around “cause & effect”.
We had a big walk at lunch at the farm today without any incident… And then an impromptu visit out to see Carol Gordon at WR Aussies to pick up a supplement and another puppy walk around the property. The puppies & Peaches enjoyed the different smells if a new place and of course the company & conversation was stellar. We stopped to take some photos at her fancy bench and again later when Tony decided to work on his stability muscles while perched on the big rocking chair.

It was bath & blow out day for both Lucky (normal spring shed) & Peaches (postpartum devastating molt). The act of regular bathing and blow drying helps the shedding to move along and get to the business of growing new hair in the shedding follicle. I gotta say these babies sure took a toll on their mama. While she’s feeling spritely and she’s got her bikini figure back, she may have to seek acceptance at the nudist beach soon!
Tomorrow is a big day as I get my truck back after a painful bill for essential repairs along with a list of things that should be done with it in priority. The upside is the old Tundra is still running — a stay of execution granted (for now).
