We had a vet osteopathic check up with Dr Laura Taylor yesterday and all three boys did fabulously. We had calm cooperation and it’s clear they remembered the benefit of being itty-bitty babies at 4-days old for their first visit. There was no catalyst for this visit other than being ACD puppies who live life at 150%. Every. Day.
It was also convenient timing to experience their very first blood draws to send away to the University of Wisconsin CAVIDS Lab for their DAP-V vaccine titer tests. There was a tiny little peep out of Tony & Peter (more from being restrained than being poked) while Shazam was super tough and walked it off. Nobody was traumatized and it was “just another day” as far as they were concerned. Winning!! Super proud of all of them for once again taking something new in stride. We also got to practice vet waiting room manners by placing “The Leave it Game” – Tony is a superstar!
In case you’re not aware, a vaxx titer test is where they check the blood for antibodies to confirm protection against DAP-V. I’m pretty confident that they’re well protected because I had a nomograph done on Peaches – a similar titer test that predicts when maternal antibodies are no longer a factor to the puppies thereby customizing a vaxx schedule specific to them. We should have the results in a couple of weeks so stay tuned!
