Big trip to Manitoba this weekend but the 1,000+km journey was well worth it! Many thank you’s to the Crocus Kennel & Obedience Club, the judges and volunteers!
The reason we journeyed so far was because this was Shazam’s last weekend to compete as a puppy and I was really hoping for at least a Best Puppy in Group. I guess I should have set my sights higher…
Over the weekend Shazam accumulated 4x BOW awards and today he finished his Championship with a BOB Major under Judge Patrick Mudge (NB) AND was later awarded a Group 4th in the last show under Judge Carmen Haller (BC) still from the classes as I could not move him up! It was a fabulous conclusion to the weekend but the best part was the really wonderful unsolicited comment from Judge Haller as we walked together to get our official picture.
She offered that what she really liked about Shazam was that he had something that is lacking in many Australian Cattle Dogs today: Athleticism — He looks like he can work all day. …and in fact he can! He’s got stamina like no other in both brains and brawn!
Grand Championship points were also accumulated by Lucky with 3x BOB and 1x BOS and by Peaches with 1x BOB and 4x BOS awards.
Many thanks to Carolyne Cybulsky (& Jamie) and Trina Neil for helping me show this weekend, all the friends I got to visit with and to all those wonderful dog show friends who bought Reel Cookies to subsidize our entry fees! Big hugs and thanks also to Sarah Shaw who helped me ringside with group and was such a great host!
