Mick
Form & function with brains & beauty!
Mick is a balanced, substantially boned dog with a very sweet nature. He is a compact size and just exudes the old Jellendore type.
He was Best of Breed winner at Sydney Royal and a High in Trial winner at the biggest ANKC cattle trial to date. Mick’s biddability, natural flanks and heading ability, as well as presence and pushing power saw him score higher than working line Border Collies, Kelpies, Koolies, Australian Shepherds etc. 25 individual runs were scored, with Mick earning the highest. At the same trial Mick also won both Novice A course sheep trials. This was a big accomplishment as he had only just been introduced to the idea of taking sheep away from the handler by himself, yet managed 2 high scores.
Mick is a consistent winner at big events. He won his Minor Dog class at Brisbane Royal, his Junior Dog class at Sydney Royal and his Intermediate Dog class at Melbourne Royal, plus Reserve Dog Challenge at Melbourne Royal. At the 2016 Sydney Royal Mick was Best of Breed.
Mick is litter brother to the Queensland Reds rugby union team mascot who has matured just as nicely.
In 2025 Mick is 12 years old and according to breeder & owner, Sandra Stapley, he has never been lame a day in his life and is as sound as the day is long!
We have a couple of frozen breedings left of Mick which are available to approved bitches. Please see his Pedigree & Stats tab for his lineage and health testing results.
