Shazam was an unexpected keeper puppy from my REEL Red Superhero Litter (LUCKY x PEACHES) of 2023.  I say “unexpected” because I just couldn’t find the right home to handle his adventurer nature and now he has grown roots and isn’t going anywhere and there are SO many things I just love about this dog! 

He showed aptitude very early for herding and performance with independent thought processes.  He is the perfect combination of his parents in that he has Lucky’s easy going sociable side when interacting with other dogs & people but he has Peaches’ intensity and stamina.  He is a fast learner & problem solver which can get him into a few pickles with his experimentation in life.

He achieved his Trick Dog Novice-Master title at 11 weeks of age and his Novice Rally Title at 7 months.  Both his Conformation Championship (11½ mo) & Grand Championship (14½ mo) came quickly with limited showing including multiple group placings and an end of 2024 ranking as #5 ACD in Canada though his last show was mid May!  He managed to earn his Novice and Open Scent Detection titles in a single weekend at 18 months as one of only a few dogs to be able to pass the judge’s courses.  

So far finding hides in Scent Detection and Herding (sheep, goats and geese) are his two favourite things.  We have not trialed in Herding as yet but have plans to do so in in 2026.  Like his sire he has natural talent in covering livestock, but like his dam he uses his eye readily to turn and control. 

I’m super excited to see where this young man goes in life.  His name ended with an exclamation point and that is truly how he lives his life!
